Finally a daily writing prompt for me! Most people’s dream jobs evolve over time and so did my idea of a dream job. My dream jobs, since I was a teenager, always involved dogs.
In my twenties I gave it a shot and became a petsitter. One obstacle that I couldn’t overcome is lack of space and funds to create a boarding facility and be able to work with more clients who needed their pets to stay at a hotel – my clients were mostly cats that I would visit at their homes, while their owners were away for work trips and vacations.
It was a great time. I’ve met cats and dogs, their people and was paid for doing things I loved – taking care of animals! But life happens and I had to close my petsitting business and move across Europe…
Even though I was considering petsitting, at least part time, in my new home, I decided not to.
Then we got Boris – our first miniature dachshund. I started making toys for him. When he was a puppy, he would destroy most of his toys within minutes. One kind of a toy that we wouldn’t was a fleece tug toy. Almost 5 years later he still has dog tug toys that were my first prototypes 🙂

In 2022 I opened an Etsy Shop, called WigglyTailsCreations. Now I not only make dog tug toys but also accessories for dogs, such as crochet dog bandanas, snoods and sweaters. I also expanded my creations to gifts for dog lovers. I make dog themed keychains, tote bags and more…

Wiggly Tails became my dream job – I get to create unique items and meet dog lovers, both in person and online! I would love to take it further than couple sales here and there, even though I don’t count on it becoming my main source of income, due to handmade nature of my small business.
But I’m working on it 🙂
